Q1. How will courses be conducted after May 17, 2022?

A1

  1. From May 17, 2022 until the end of this semester, courses will be taught online.
  2. All instructors are requested to announce their methods for online teaching on the NCKU Moodle, and announce their final online assessment methods before May 21, 2022.
  3. All students are requested to avoid unnecessary gatherings (including clubs and related activities) during this online teaching period, and implement all self-initiated epidemic prevention measures.

Q2. How do I apply for special permission for courses that cannot be taught online?

A2.

  1. After discussions with the students, courses that cannot be taught online should be listed and reported to the Curriculum Division of the Academic Affairs Office by the departments/institutes/programs.
  2. The epidemic prevention rules must be implemented in the in-person classes (see Q3 for reference)

Q3. What epidemic prevention rules must be implemented in the in-person classes?

A3.

  1. Assign each student a seat (If it is not possible to assign seats, instructors are requested to take a photograph of the seating arrangements for each class), and take attendance (KUAP app is suggested).
  2. Instructors and students must wear masks while attending class, and disinfect their hands during class. Eating and drinking are prohibited in the classroom.
  3. The classroom’s physical environment must be kept well ventilated and disinfected regularly. All equipment should be disinfected after each use.

Q4. How will the teaching methods be announced?

A4. Instructors are requested to announce their teaching methods on the NCKU Moodle and provide their students with complete information

Q8. If courses such as lab/experiment, physical education, hands-on or service learning must be conducted in person, what should instructors pay attention to?

A8.

  1. Instructors need to plan and guide students to learn independently. For the final exam, instructors may request an in-person exam, conduct an online multi-assessment process, or cancel the final exam – based on the epidemic situation at that time, fairness, and communications with their students.
  2. After discussions with the students, courses involving laboratory experiments or internships, which cannot be taught online, should be listed and reported to the Curriculum Division of the Academic Affairs Office by the departments/institutes/programs.
  3. During in-person classes, the epidemic prevention measures of Q3 should be implemented and the students should be fixed into groups. The equipment used by the students should not be shared. If there is a need to share the equipment, please make sure that this equipment is disinfected after each use.

Q9. What should I do if there are COVID-19 confirmed cases in the in-person classes?

If the instructors and students who are diagnosed with COVID-19 have attended the in-person class within 2 days before the onset of the disease, the response is as follows:

  1. For those who had more than 15 minutes of face-to-face contact within a 24-hour period with the confirmed case, during which time the confirmed case had taken off his/her mask, a “3-day epidemic prevention leave” should be conducted during which you are not allowed to enter the campus.
  2. The aforementioned "3-day epidemic prevention leave" is not counted as a regular leave, and will not be included in a student's absence record, nor will it result in deductions from the student’s academic assessment scores.

Q10. What should lab/experiment courses do during this online teaching period?

A10. Instructors can plan a new form of lab/experiment course with online resources, such as flipped class methods combined with online teaching, videos of lab/experiments conducted by instructors or teaching assistants, or innovative online lab/experiment simulation courses.

Q11. How should students from afar conduct their online learning when the in-person and online classes are switched?

A11. In addition to using their own laptop computer, tablet or mobile phone, and other equipment for online learning at any location with stable internet services, students also can go to these following places:

A12. Yes. Non-synchronous online teaching videos must be uploaded to Mytube and the students must be provided with the link URL. Please save the synchronous online teaching video on the teaching platform or provide links for the students to review this material.

Q13. How will students be graded for these online courses?

A13. Instructors can utilize familiar ways to grade students, such as changing the types of tests used (e.g., open-book tests), requiring written reports, utilizing online tests (e.g., online questions combined with a video conferencing system), and/or employing online oral reports. Instructors are also encouraged to develop new ways to grade students using the available online resources. In addition, instructors can conduct online exams through Moodle.
